The Process

How the bioTank works.

A three-stage aerobic process inside a single concrete structure — no internal moving parts, just gravity, bacteria and aeration.

Stage 01

Primary Settlement

Waste water flows into the primary chamber, where initial separation of solids occurs. A sludge layer forms at the bottom of the tank and should be removed periodically. The clarified liquid effluent then passes forward for treatment in the aeration zone.

Stage 02

Treatment

From the primary zone the separated liquid enters the treatment chamber. Natural bacteria are cultivated using specially designed media, self-cleaning diffusers and air supplied by a specialised pump. These micro-organisms reduce BOD (Biological Oxygen Demand) and TSS (Total Suspended Solids) to reach a 20:30 standard.

Stage 03

Final Settlement

The liquid enters the final settlement chamber, where any remaining small particles of sludge settle to the bottom and are returned to the primary treatment zone. The remaining treated liquid — now at the required standard — flows out to a percolation area.
